Larry, Mary & Crew,
There are hardly words to express the level of gratitude and satisfaction with the job well done at our home. When starting this project, we were so doubtful, due to such disappointing and heart breaking past experiences with contractors. Larry your work ethic far exceeded our expectations. Your generosity and understanding of life situations were so refreshing. We wish you and yours the very best in the days and years to come. Thank you all for your service. Larry this service was and is acknowledged and appreciated.

I just wanted to express my satisfaction with the wonderful remodeling job you did for me on my master bathroom, as well as on my guest bathroom. My desire to make my bathrooms handicap accessible as well as aesthetically pleasing must surely have posed a challenge to you and I am very happy with the final result. I especially wanted to comment on the wonderful job you did in helping my pick out the most reasonably priced quality walk-in tub and installing it in the limited space you had to work with. It is my favorite part of the remodel!
In fact every decision you helped me make (and there were plenty of them as I have never built a home or remodeled one before), whether it was regarding the tile for the shower & tub or the suggestions you offered regarding the custom cabinets, your advice was spot on and always took in to consideration my limited budget and balanced it with my desire for beauty as well as function. I couldn't be happier.
Of course I was excited to show off my new bathrooms and I have heard nothing but praise at the quality, beauty & functionality of each of the rooms.
But most importantly, I'd like to complement you on your professionalism and attentiveness to my needs. As a single lady it was very important that I felt safe & secure with your workers as well as with you. Trust is a very hard thing to give sometimes in this not so ethical world. I feel very blessed that you expressed such integrity & personal concern for my safety & satisfaction. This allowed me to have complete confidence that I would not be taken advantage of nor would I have to worry about my safety at any time during the project.
If at any time you would like my endorsement on the quality, trustworthiness, concern for my limited budget or overall satisfaction that I have had with the result of you remodel job I would be glad to offer my input. I will not hesitate to call you for any future remodeling needs I might have.
Dear Mary & Larry,
Just want to thank you for the great installation of the Toilevator toilet riser and the INAX Washlet Seat. We received your name from Benjamin Plumbing . We were impressed with the personal attention given to our disability needs. Not only did you perform a wonderful and timely installation, additionally you researched exactly which bidet seat would be suitable for a sliding transfer. This is something we hadn’t given thought to. You paid attention to every detail with extensive product descriptions and functions in your proposal. We thought your fees were very reasonable too. We will gladly refer you to friends.

I just wanted to share with you what a fantastic experience it was meeting with Larry Hume the other day. He was fantastic. Not only did he take an hour of his Saturday to inspect the foundation of our house, he was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to alleviate my fears of major foundation issues. Additionally he pointed out numerous areas where we were running the risk of inviting termites, to which he also recommended a do-it-yourself solution that we have since completed. He did all this with no fees whatsoever.
In this day when there seems to be nothing but schemers and folks looking to put the screws to you and your wallet, it was mind-blowing to find such a qualified, knowledgeable professional. Much thanks (again!) to Larry for the services you provide to our Tucson community.
Rest assured, I will be recommending your services to others!
Todd Luethjohann Director
I cannot praise enough the professionalism, quality of work, and artistry of Larry Hume and all of the craftsmen he brought in to remodel our bathroom. He, and all of the subcontractors, did what they promised on time and within our agreed price. He created a functional shower for my handicapped husband, which has not only made the act of showering safe, but allowed the experience, which before renovation terrified my husband and me, one that is now pleasant. Larry was even thoughtful enough to design storage within the shower to hold the various bottles and showering supplies, so they would be neat and off the floor. The handheld shower that was installed has a long, flexible hose, which facilitates my helping with showering. The shower controls were installed at the entrance to the shower, rather than under the shower head, which enables me to turn the shower on/off without getting wet or forcing my husband to be doused with cold water as we wait for the hot water to reach our bathroom.
In addition to remodeling our shower, grab bars were installed in the bathroom to facilitate my husband's ability to get to the toilet. Changes were also made to the height of the threshold of my front door and ramps installed, which now allow us to roll a transport chair easily out the door. Finally, a 5 inch step at the end of our walkway was changed to a ramp, designed to blend in with the rest of the walkway and end in a way that was level. This was no easy feat because our driveway is on quite a slope. The work was done so well, it looks like it was always part of our walkway. And, my husband has gone from being a house prisoner to having the freedom to get out again.
I would recommend Accessible Home Remodeling to anyone who is looking for a contractor with creativity, integrity, and connections with tradesmen who are all exceptional at what they do.
Accessible Home Remodeling gets a Five Star rating from us for the exceptional work that they did at our home. The owner, Larry Hume, is wonderful to work with, as was all of his team. Everyone who worked on the project was professional, highly skilled, and a pleasure to have around. Attention to detail was evident throughout the project including the daily cleanup of the worksite. The team was totally trustworthy and their work ethic was outstanding. The day after we closed on a new home we met with Larry to come up with ideas on how to transform it to make it accessible for elderly parents and an adult quadriplegic sibling who would live there.
Larry had an artistic eye and great ideas for how to make the spaces functional yet attractive. He listened to our needs and responded with thoughts and ideas that always had the handicapped clients in mind. He was very sincere in wanting to make their daily life easier. Our move in date was very close so work needed to be completed very quickly. The entire project, from our very first meeting to completion, took only 45 days.
Larry always had cost saving ways of doing things and never tried to "upsell". We felt he was very reasonable in his pricing and we were completely satisfied with the speed in which the renovations were completed. The quality of the work exceeded our expectations! Thanks to the exceptional workmanship of AHR our home now looks beautiful and has the functionality that we needed. We couldn't have asked for a nicer experience. We highly recommend Accessible Home Remodeling.
The service went very well. Larry the owner is very knowledgeable about making the house accessible for the handicapped. He really knew what he was doing. He had a lot of excellent suggestions for us. The project turned out very well. The price was very affordable. We told them that we needed to stay within a tight budget and they did. We would definitely use their services in the future too.
All work promptly and expeditiously performed, along with good humor.

He was very patient and helped us work through the things we needed. The subcontractors who worked with Larry were excellent. I felt very comfortable with them coming and going. All the work they did was very well-done. We had one problem with one section of the cabinets. They came in the wrong size. Larry came back out to put in the old sink, complete with a laminate counter top, so that my husband would be able to use that bathroom while we waited on the proper cabinets.
I identified 3 contractors from write-ups on Angie's List to give me estimates and ideas on how to accomplish what I wanted to do. All 3 were experienced and knowledgeable. Two of the three were certified aging in place specialists. Two of the contractors came to my house listened to my ideas, asked questions and took measurements. One brought his plumber out to look at the situation before providing a bid. Then I received emailed bids with a general description of the work to be done and a figure with a statement that the cost of permits was not included. Larry Hume, on the other hand, did not want to provide a bid until he knew exactly what he was dealing with. He did a drawing that he emailed to me and then we talked on the phone about what was good or bad about it. He then did another drawing and we discussed it on the phone. The third drawing was the one we agreed on. Then he had his electrician, his plumber and his HVAC person come out and assess the situation. When I finally received his bid it was very detailed in what it covered. I felt more comfortable accepting his bid since I knew up front what was involved in it and all 3 bids were within a few thousand dollars of each other.
The workers that he hired for my project were prompt, professional, skilled, knowledgeable and very considerate of working in my home. They showed up promptly in the mornings, worked steadily during the day and cleaned up everything before leaving at the end of the day. Initially, they used a plastic barrier between the work area and the living spaces since they could access the work area from the garage. When it progressed to closing off the existing door and opening up the door to the bedroom, they used tarps on the floor for protection and for a few days put up portable plastic barriers to provide separation between the work area and the living spaces.
The material suppliers that he recommended were all extremely helpful and provided quality products. In my experience they were able to save me time and frustration by educating me about their products and helping with the selection. Larry continually kept me on track by advising me about the schedule on an almost daily basis (the project took 3 1/2 weeks to complete) and letting me know what I had to have picked out by when.
As problem areas were identified, Larry kept me informed and educated me about the construction of the house and offered his recommendations for dealing with what was discovered. For example, the wall between the garage and the house was not insulated. This wasn't an issue when there were closets between the garage wall and the living spaces. Also the outside wall was concrete block with brick on the outside. He recommended insulating both the adjoining garage wall and the outside wall. Also, it was discovered during the course of running hot and cold water pipes to the new bathroom that the original duct work for a no longer existing cooler had rusted through and was allowing heating and cooling to escape into the attic.. Both of those problems were addressed during construction and the additional cost was covered in a change order.
Larry is well-versed in accessibility requirements. He listened to my parents' needs and requests, and made very pertinent suggestions. It was important to work within a budget, and Larry helped us make that happen by providing lots of options. The bathroom now meets my elderly and disabled father's needs, and makes my mother's care giving much easier.
They did a great job. I would use them again.
Had great creative ideas and did the work quickly and with any eye to the big picture and detail. Wonderful to work with and I would absolutely use again and again. Larry is very experienced in working with the disabled but also excellent in all areas of general construction.
I want to thank everyone at Accessible Home Remodeling (AHR) for the fantastic job they did in making our house accessible. Not only did they do a beautiful job, they anticipated many of our needs in making our house accessible. From installing a ramp at the front door, laying slip-resistant bathroom tile, lowering the light switches, installing a self-flushing toilet (wonderful), installing grab bars, to widening doorways, and numerous other needed changes, they problem-solved special needs. Chief among those was rearranging the placement of the toilet to give better access during transfer and direct access to the sink area, something that had been impossible with the prior arrangement.
They suggested ways to keep costs down and always discussed our wishes rather than try to push their ideas on us. I know quite a lot about accessibility issues and needs since starting my professional career in disabled student services and more generally as a counselor/educator in following years. The AHR team had ideas that I hadn't thought of, even with my years of experience, so I am very impressed. They went out of their way to do an excellent job, tailored to our needs and wishes, and to keep it affordable.
They went the extra mile to do it better than right. Therefore they will have all my future remodeling business. They are that good.
Dear Mary & Larry,
I wanted to pass on just how grateful and satisfied we have been with your work on my parent's home. Your experience and overall knowledge were key contributors to finding the "right solution" for their particular circumstance. However it was your responsiveness, patience and personal touch that was most notable. This combination of skills and caring provided us with a peace of mind not often found with a long distance contract.
This letter is being written in recognition of the excellent work performance in my home by Mr. Larry Hume.
Mr. Hume’s work ethic and professional manner in which he performed the job at hand went beyond our expectations. His concentration on minor details transformed our house into a home we will enjoy for many years.
We would recommend Mr. Hume to all our friends knowing that the integrity of the man shows in the quality of his work.

Thanks for all your excellent work on my guest house. I can see the kitchen cabinets gleaming through my kitchen window! Now I feel good about the new house. When I checked some more, I learned that you had indeed hauled off most of the wood fence.
Accessible Home Remodeling does exceptional work. Mr. Hume’s philosophy is to actively listen to his client to ensure he is able to encapsulate what the client’s needs are for his or her home. His customer first approach, expertise, and vision are to transform homes into user friendly and convenient domiciles.
One example is a kitchen remodel. With the kitchen completely gutted, Mr. Hume’s vision transformed the room into a modem marvel. Designed with every modern convenience, including a massive island with electric switches strategically located for proper lighting, Mr. Hume thought of everything. The sink, stove, refrigerator, and pantry were designed for convenience and quick accessibility. Moreover, a modern spice rack and cabinets for pots and pans are located for effortless cooking and cleaning.
In all, Mr. Hume aims to please his clients, ensuring good communications and satisfaction are the end results.
I wanted to write you to let you know how much I appreciate the superior job that you provided for me at my in-laws home. I realize that you went above and beyond to make sure that they were happy with their new bathroom. The reinforcement of the grab bars gives me the security that my father in law will not fall in the shower and break his hip again. Once the remodel started you discovered some issues with the home that needed to be corrected before you could continue and those were done with no hassle and no additional costs. I would highly recommend your services to anyone that is in need of construction or handicap remodeling. Thank you for the great work and peace of mind.
Thanks So Much!
I know pops won’t fall in the shower now and it looks great. Thanks for all the extra work you did also.
Thanks for your excellent work and fun personality!
All the best,
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hume:
Thank you so much for your kind consideration to Pima Council on Aging in providing a discount for the work done. You did an excellent job of repairing and replacing the bathroom flooring, installing a new toilet, and the unbelievable feat of matching her existing tile! She sent us a thank you note saying what a beautiful job you did in fixing her “eyesore.”
We applaud your willingness to work within our budget. Many thanks!

I contracted Accessible Remodel to remodel my Master Bathroom and am very happy with the results. The tile on the floor and in the shower updated my older home very nicely and we are very pleased with the way it looks. Larry is very trustworthy and professional. I was able to go to work during the day and leave him alone in my home to do the work without a worry and the suggestions he made to us for the shower turned out very nice. I highly recommend Larry’s work. He is a perfectionist and won’t walk away from the job unless it is right.
